Image compressor
Shrink a photo's file size and cap its longest side. You see the saving before you download anything.
Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored.
WebP is usually about a third smaller than JPEG at the same quality, and every current browser reads it. Use JPEG if the file is going somewhere old.
Choose a photo and the compressed version appears here, next to what it cost you.
Why this one exists
Product photos straight off a phone are 4MB each. That is slow on a 3G connection, and a buyer who waits for a picture to load often doesn't.
- WebP is usually about a third smaller than JPEG at the same quality, and every current browser reads it. Use JPEG if the file is going somewhere old.
- 1200px on the longest side is plenty for a product photo on a phone. Past that you are sending pixels nobody's screen will show.
- Quality below about 60% starts showing on skin and flat colour. Watch the preview, not the number.
Worth doing before you add product photos to your shop: smaller files load faster for buyers on mobile data.
